And so it begins...
Yesterday felt pretty similar to many of the days I've had over the last two years. I woke up, brewed some coffee and cycled into central London for a 9am lecture. However, it marked the first day of my third (and final!) year of my midwifery training. I received my all important Practice Assessment Document, where all the births I attend will be recorded, where mentors will sign to indicate my competency, and where the remaining 870 of my total 2,500+ practice hours will be signed off. The last two academic years have been incredibly challenging, exciting and emotional and I can only anticipate third year to be an amplification of that.
Meanwhile, as I work towards qualifying as a midwife, I am also on a different journey of preparing for marriage. On the 30th June this year, I got engaged to my best friend and partner of five years. The first two months of engagement have flown by and the reality of wedding planning has hit. We are knee deep in marriage books and will be beginning a marriage preparation course in the new year.
I have no idea what this year will be like (although I'm anticipating both a lot of joy and a lot of tears) but I intend to document it honestly as I go so I can look back later on the year in which I became both a midwife and a wife.
